Casualty star and comedian Rosie Jones has revealed that she wants to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, following the success of EastEnders' Rose Ayling-Ellis last year.

Rosie, alongside Nina Wadia, Scarlett Moffatt, Tamzin Outhwaite and Helen George, took part in a 24-hour opera challenge for Comic Relief, and while talking about it to Metro, she shared her hopes to take to the dancefloor and compete for that Glitterball Trophy.

"I'd say what drives me is, when I was growing up, having cerebral palsy I didn't see anybody like me [on TV]," she said. "What I try to do in my work and my comedy is to tell people that yes, I might talk slower and I wobble a little bit but it doesn't stop me.

"In recent years people like Rose Ayling-Ellis on Strictly have just shown that having a disability isn't a disadvantage and it will never stop me! It's about showing people anything is possible… bring it on!"

Rose and her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice used their Strictly routines to pay tribute to the deaf community multiple times, including silencing the music while continuing to dance to show people just what her daily life is like.

The duo were applauded across the board for their powerful — and technically outstanding — performances, eventually winning the show.

Meanwhile, Rosie has been praised for her role in Casualty. She plays a woman named Paula, with her storyline highlighting the issues disabled people face in their daily lives and how public services let them down.

Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer. Strictly is expected to return later this year on the same channel.
