Helen George teases exciting new TV project for BBC

Helen George has joined an all-star cast for the BBC's Comic Relief this week.

The Call the Midwife star will be a world away fr0m Nonnatus House as part of Comic Relief's Comic Opera, where she will join four other celebrities putting their vibratos to the test with three arias from Carmen.

Members of the English National Opera will be working with George, EastEnders stars Tamzin Outhwaite and Nina Wadia, comedian Rosie Jones and I'm a Celebrity's Scarlett Moffatt.

"I'm so excited to be included in this year's Comic Opera with such a brilliant bunch of women," George has said. "I'm sure my warbling will mainly be more 'Comic' than 'Opera', but looking forward to giving it a go."

Comic Relief's Comic Opera airs on Friday as part of a full night of fundraising segments, specials and musical performances to raise money for those most vulnerable across the UK.

The BBC One show will feature a reunion for Strictly Come Dancing 2021 winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice as well as a new sketch with Little Britain's David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

Unfortunately, The Masked Singer's Joel Dommett has been forced to drop out of co-hosting due to testing positive for COVID-19. He will be replaced by Vernon Kay, alongside David Tennant, Sir Lenny Henry, Alesha Dixon and more.

BBC Comic Relief's Red Nose Days airs from 7pm on BBC One on Friday.
