BBC Breakfast's Louise Minchin announces new career move

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin has joined the world of podcasting with a series called Push Your Peak.

Minchin, who also took part in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! last year, announced her latest endeavour via Instagram yesterday (February 21).

"Just to let you know the first episode of my @wattbike podcast #pushyourpeak comes out this Wednesday (February 23) and who better to start with than endurance cyclist extraordinaire @mrmarkbeaumont who was fabulously honest, giving huge insights into how he got through tough events," she wrote to her followers.

Each episode of the series drops on successive Wednesdays, while an official description explains how Minchin "sits down with superhumans who have done extraordinary things, to learn what it takes – mentally and physically – to go again (and again)."

Back in September, the 53-year-old said of her decision to leave BBC Breakfast: "It's a big change and honestly, still, when that alarm goes off every morning, I'm like, 'Ugh' – that's the thing I'm most looking forward to.

"I know 100% that it's the right thing for me to do. Of course, there's a huge amount of nerves and I'm having the most extreme, extraordinarily vivid anxiety dreams that are keeping me awake.

"I'm planning some really long swims, and getting back into running."
