Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan teases season 2 as cast reunite

Bridgerton season 1 spoilers follow.

Bridgerton season 2 still doesn't have a release date yet, but it looks like the first episode is all done and dusted.

Star Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington and was revealed as Lady Whistledown at the end of season 1, shared a photo to her Instagram of the cast reuniting to watch the first new episode.

Francesca Bridgerton actress Ruby Stokes commented "coolest <3", Genevieve Delacroix actress Kathryn Drysdale wrote "SO GOOD !!!!" while the show's boss Shonda Rhimes commented "MY FAMILY!!!!"

Coughlan has been teasing the return of Bridgerton for a while, recently confirming that viewers should expect a lot of "heavy" scenes.

"The drama has amped up a lot," she said. "As I say, we're shooting all those big dramatic scenes for the end. It's exhausting but very satisfying.

"I think it's safe to say that you (will see more of Penelope's life). And you know, those final moments of series one was definitely a peek into her life. I think in series 2 you kind of see how the sausage gets made and all that's happening."

Although the first episode of season 2 is finished (or at least enough to show the cast), filming only wrapped up recently.

The new season, which welcomes cast newcomers including Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, doesn't yet have a release date.
