Get ready to have your mind blown by the ladies of Showtime's new presidential series The First Lady: iconic trio Gillian Anderson, Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer.
All three have gifted audiences some pretty transformative performances throughout the years. In the upcoming show, each will play a different US First Lady, and the first official pictures suggest viewers are in for a treat.
Directed by The Undoing's Susanne Bier, Anderson will be Eleanor Roosevelt, Pfeiffer will portray Betty Ford and Davis will channel Michelle Obama. Take a look at the first pictures from the series below and prepare to be wowed.
In the first-look images from Entertainment Weekly, Davis as Michelle is pictured in a red dress as she networks with husband Barack Obama, played by The Handmaid's Tale actor O-T Fagbenle.
In another shot, the How To Get Away with Murder star also poses with Lexi Underwood (Little Fires) and Saniyya Sidney as the couple's daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama, respectively.
Anderson as Roosevelt is pictured with Mare of Easttown's Cailee Spaeny as her daughter, while Pfeiffer as Ford braves photographers with daughter Susan, played by Dakota Fanning, and husband, President Gerald Ford, portrayed by Aaron Eckhart.
The show's first season will focus on the personal and political lives of the three First Ladies, tracing "their journeys to Washington through an enlightening intimacy," according to Showtime.
"I feel very protective of Michelle," Davis said about taking on the role of the first Black First Lady.
"It's our job as actors not to judge whoever we are portraying, but I ended up thinking she's just dope."
The First Lady is set for a spring 2022 release on Showtime. A UK release is TBC.
