Adjoa Andoh shares details of role in The Witcher season 2

Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury, landed a role in another big Netflix series earlier this year.

The actress will play Nenneke in season two of The Witcher, which is due to arrive on the streaming service next month.

Talking exclusively to Digital Spy, Adjoa spoke about her character, revealing that Nenneke will play an important part in season two due to her history with Henry Cavill's Geralt.

"She's got that sort of internal tension that I find really interesting," Adjoa said. "She's got the longest relationship with Henry Cavill's character, Geralt. So she's known him since he was sent to the Temple of Melitele when he was a child.

"Because, you know, that place is somewhere that potential witchers get sent . You're learning midwifery, you're learning healing, you're learning how to fight, and you're also being looked at for your future potential."

Revealing more about her character's personality, Adjoa continued: "I think she's got a very strong intellect, and sense of strategy and battle, as well as healing, and all those more nurturing qualities.

"So there's quite a range. She's a high priestess of the temple in the middle of all this war and torment, because, in a sense, this is a neutral place. When you come here, you're in neutral territory. It is a refuge.

"So to hold that middle ground is hard, and it takes someone who has the capacity for strategy and authority, and a sense of the moral compass of the place to keep everything in place. So I really like that about her."

And it seems Nenneke may possess a few similarities to Lady Danbury. "She's also a bit twinkly. She's a bit sweary, and she's a bit funny," Adjoa added.

"It's sort of tough love, I think. I've been saying about her: she's sort of got a warm heart, and hard hands. Geralt knows that if he comes to her for advice, she will welcome him; she will nurture him; and she will give him the hard facts on the ground. And she'll challenge him.

"So he knows that he's always going to get the real deal from her, and he knows that it will always be given to him with love."

The Witcher season 1 is now streaming worldwide on Netflix. Season 2 will premiere on December 17, 2021.
