Strictly's Shirley says 2021 series is "most unpredictable" ever

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has weighed in on who could win the 2021 series, admitting it is the "most unpredictable" one ever.

This year's outing is around the halfway point now (yep, we can't believe it either), which means the competition is truly heating up.

However, while appearing on Good Morning Britain (November 3), Shirley was asked about her predictions for Glitterball glory, with co-host Richard Madeley tipping Rose Ayling-Ellis.

The judge called the EastEnders star "absolutely sensational, as with the lot of the cast," though she went on to note the leaderboard has been prone to change each week.

"I do believe this series is the most unpredictable series of all time, because if you watch the leaderboard it's changing from week to week," she said. "One minute Sara [Davies] was at the bottom, then she shot to the top. Here and there, they're all over the place."

Madeley then praised John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, with Shirley suggesting: "They have to sustain, because they came out starting really strong. Now it's whether they can maintain and sustain their performance."

Susanna Reid went on to admit that viewers love a journey too, as the judge added: "They do love a journey, but there are improvements that can be made in each dancer as an individual, so it can change from week to week."

As for McFly's Tom Fletcher, Shirley said that fans should "not count him out... let's not count anybody out at this point."

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 airs on Saturday nights on BBC One, with results shows every Sunday. Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
