The Queen wore a stunning diamond brooch which paid subtle tribute to Wales as she attended an important event in the capital city.
Her Majesty wore pastel pink to open the Welsh Parliament, the Senedd, in Cardiff yesterday (15 October).
The pink coat dress was double breasted and featured statement black buttons. The Queen’s hat was in the same pink, with a contrasting narrow black band around it, which affixed flowers to one side.
Perhaps the most significant element of her outfit, however, was her diamond brooch, which paid homage to the nation. The brooch featured daffodils, which are a national emblem for Wales.
Her Majesty also wore black gloves and patent flat shoes for the occasion. She has worn the outfit previously this year, when she arrived for her summer residency at Balmoral Castle, Scotland.
Her Majesty attended the event with her son, the Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Photographs of the outing were shared across her official social media.
A caption alongside the images explained that, “Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses met the First Minister and Welsh party leaders before The Queen addressed Members of Welsh Parliament in the Senedd.”
In her address, the Queen said that, “the Welsh people have much to be proud of” and added she was sure the party leaders would, “continue to be inspired by their indomitable spirit, as [they] represent the interests of Wales and its people.”
Her Majesty also met community “Covid Champions” and described them as “shining examples of the spirit for which the Welsh people are so renowned, that I have personally encountered so many times.”
