Daniel Craig lines up Bond reunion for Broadway gig

Daniel Craig's first role after leaving James Bond behind will be on the stage.

It's no secret that the No Time to Die star is leaving 007 behind, and while he's filming on Knives Out 2 currently, audiences will actually see him first in a new staging of William Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Craig will be teaming up with Ruth Negga in a limited 15-week production of Macbeth at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City, with an official opening date on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

The show, which starts previews in March 2022, will actually be a Bond reunion because it's being produced by 007 boss Barbara Broccoli (via Deadline). Tony winner Sam Gold is set to direct.

Broccoli announced on Wednesday: "Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theatre actor as well. I am thrilled that he will be supporting the return of Broadway playing this iconic role with the exquisitely talented Ruth Negga making her Broadway debut and under the expert direction of Sam Gold."

Craig also worked with director Sam Gold on Broadway previously in Othello off-Broadway following his last Bond film Spectre.

The actor has previous experience on the Great White Way headlining productions of A Steady Rain and Betrayal, in addition to working regularly on stage in the UK throughout his career.

Tickets will be available from Friday, October 8 via Broadway.com. An early pre-sale event will take place on Wednesday, October 6.

No Time to Die is out in UK cinemas on September 30 and in US cinemas on October 8. All the previous Bond movies are available on DVD or Blu-ray.
