Alex Jones shared an adorable photograph of her oldest son, Teddy dressed in his school uniform on his first proper day at school.

The mum of three shared the snap of Ted in his new blue school jumper, polo shirt and smart grey trousers ready to head through the school gates.

Alex wrote a moving message alongside the image saying that it was, “Time for our little Ted to make his own way.” She admitted that it was an emotional moment but that she “managed to hold it together until he was out of sight.”

While the One Show presenter admitted she was “sure that he’s in great hands” and was “so excited for him”, she said it “felt like a very big milestone.”

Alex finished the post on a positive note by saying, “here’s to the next chapter.”

Many of Alex’s 321k Instagram followers left messages of support for the presenter and her oldest child on their special family day.

“Aww, good luck Ted. Well done Mummy,” wrote a follower. “Always tough, even when they're older, I cried when mine went to Uni,” added one parent.

Another agreed, saying, “It felt like that as well when my giant 6.5 boy walked off to first day of sixth form last week. You never completely get use to sending them off to new adventures!”

Alex has three children, with her newest arrival, Annie, joining the world only last month. Annie was the presenter’s first daughter with husband Charlie Thomson, and the pair have two older sons, Teddy and Kit.
