Emma Raducanu has been praised by a whole host of notable figures since her historic straight-sets win at the US Open on Saturday evening. Boris Johnson, The Duchess of Cambrdige, Harry Kane , Gary Linkeker and many legends from the world of Tennis took the time to congratulate her, but one person in particular made quite the impression on Emma - Her Majesty The Queen.

The Queen sent a letter to Emma after she clinched the Grand Slam title and called her performance “outstanding”.

"It is a remarkable achievement at such a young age, and is testament to your hard work and dedication," the letter read. "I have no doubt your outstanding performance, and that of your opponent Leylah Fernandez, will inspire the next generation of tennis players. I send my warmest good wishes to you and your many supporters."

When asked by the BBC how she felt receiving a note from the royal, the 18-year-old tennis pro couldn’t hide her delight and revealed what she plans to do with it.

She said: "It meant everything to get a written message from Her Majesty. I mean, she's such a great inspiration and role model for the whole country so to have a note from her, I was extremely honoured and very, very grateful for that… I can't believe it, I'm maybe going to frame that letter or something."

Emma is the UK's first women's grand slam singles champion in 44 years and she is the first woman to win a major title in her second grand slam event.
