Call the Midwife's Daniel Laurie is the son of iconic EastEnders villain Leslie Grantham, known for playing Dirty Den in the BBC soap.
Daniel is best known for playing Reggie Jackson in the beloved BBC One period drama, joining the show for series 6 in 2017. Fans saw Reggie going off to live with his uncle Fred Buckle after his mother's death.
Prior to Call the Midwife, Daniel starred in Vera and Stella, before most recently appearing in Keeley Hawes drama Finding Alice.
Meanwhile, Daniel's late father Leslie, who died in 2018, was most famous for playing 'Dirty Den' Watts in EastEnders between 1985 and 1989, before returning to Albert Square in 2003 and being killed off for good in 2005.
Leslie and ex-wife Jane Laurie have two other sons together, Spike and Jake.
Call the Midwife will be returning later this year for its Christmas special, before coming back for series 11 in 2022. Creator Heidi Thomas returned to the set earlier this year for the first time since the pandemic hit, and confirmed that filming for season 11 was on track.
Plot details for the Christmas special are being kept under-wraps for now but viewers discovered in season 10 that Lucille and Cyril are planning a Christmas wedding, so that's something we can look forward to. Season 11 will take fans to the late '60s - which saw women gradually gaining autonomy over their bodies with the introduction of the contraceptive pill.
Returning cast members will include Helen George as Nurse Trixie, Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Leonie Elliott as Lucille, Zephryn Taitte as Cyril and Stephen McGann as Dr Turner.
Call the Midwife Christmas special will air on BBC One.
