Princess Anne attended celebrations for national Armed Forces Day on Saturday (26 June) at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The Princess Royal attended the event in person alongside her husband, whose official military title is Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Photographs of Princess Anne and Sir Tim in uniform were shared in a post on the Royal Family’s official Instagram page,
Alongside the images, a post explained that Anne “had the chance to personally thank members of the Armed Forces community, including military families, for their service.”
Members of the public were quick to share their appreciation for the Princess and her work saying, “loving the Princess Royal, this woman is magnificent,” and adding “thank you for your service.” Another comment described her as the “best asset in the Royal family.”
A message of thanks from the Queen was also shared on the account, including a quote from a speech to those in military service, which she gave last year.
“Today provides an opportunity for thanks, and a recognition of the dedication and risks faced by those serving our nation,” she said, to mark Armed Forces Day in 2020.
The post explained that Her Majesty has a “long and close relationship with the Armed Forces” as their official “Commander-in-chief” and “has met many servicemen and women of all ranks, and their families, both at home and overseas.”
