Princess Eugenie has posted a moving tribute to her late grandfather, Prince Philip on what would have been the Duke’s birthday.
His Royal Highness would have been 100 years old today (10 June) and Princess Eugenie honoured his memory with a photograph of Prince Philip and the Queen.
Alongside the photo, she said that she was, “thinking of Grandpa on what would have been his 100th birthday.”
The Duke of Edinburgh sadly passed away earlier this year and his family members, including the Princess, attended his funeral at St George’s Chapel, Windsor in April.
Members of the public left messages of condolences and support on her post, saying they were “deeply saddened and sorry for [her] loss,” and “God bless you all and happy heavenly birthday Prince Philip.”
The official social media account for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Clarence House, also shared a tribute to the Duke in his memory.
The post included two photographs of His Royal Highness. The first was an image from last year when the Duke transferred “his role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Rifles to The Duchess of Cornwall.”
The second was a childhood photo of Prince Charles, holding a young Prince Philip’s hand as he met his father returning from a trip to Malta in 1951.
To officially mark the what would have been Prince Philip’s 100th birthday, the Queen was presented with a rose named in his honour, the Duke of Edinburgh Rose, which has been planted in his memory at Windsor Castle.
The Princess shared a post from the official Royal Family account of the Queen receiving the rose on her Instagram stories, alongside rose emojis.
Sales from the rose will help support the Prince’s Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and legacy.
