Strictly Come Dancing 2020 contestant Nicola Adams has shared her thoughts on a possible return to the BBC ballroom.
Forced to step out of the competition due to her dance partner Katya Jones's positive coronavirus test, the former professional boxer said was devastated to have had to step out.
She joined Lorraine on Wednesday (9 June) for a talk about her departure from the series, which was also the show's first ever same-sex pairing.
Admitting it was a "shame" to leave the contest in such a manner, Nicola explained: "I'm a fighter and I'd like to go out on my shield. I'd rather go out on a dance-off than by COVID."
Asked by host Lorraine Kelly whether she's allowed to return, Nicola then said: "I'm not sure. I mean, I'd love to, just because of the way that I went out.
"It wasn't fair," she added, while Lorraine agreed that there was "unfinished business".
The BBC declared in a statement last year that Nicola wouldn't be able to take part in another series because she would have "an unfair advantage in the future, as she's now had weeks of training".
Reflecting on the situation last November, Nicola shared that the whole experience was "horrible".
"I just felt sorry for Katya because I knew she was going to blame herself and it's one of those things," she explained. "I didn't want her to blame herself because it wasn't her fault and I never saw it that way."
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One. It's due to return later in 2021.
