Emma Willis has posted a tribute to midwives on her Instagram account yesterday (5 May) in honour of International Day of the Midwife.

The presenter included a photo of herself alongside eight real NHS midwives she worked alongside for her popular show, Emma Willis: Delivering Babies on W Channel.

In the program, Emma sees the work of medical staff first-hand as they bring new lives into the world on the busy NHS wards of UK hospitals every day.

The presenter trained as a Maternity Care Assistant and worked full shifts alongside maternity staff to experience and also shine a light on the hard work teams do.

In her post, Emma described the staff as “a wonderful bunch” and said she was a “lucky girl to get to work alongside them.”

“Thank you so much for the love and the laughs and the learning,” she said, adding she was sending “all [her] love” to them all.

Many of Emma’s followers praised the midwives as well as Emma’s own efforts on the show and shared their experiences.

“Loved this series, you and the team were great. I start my midwifery degree in September and cannot wait,” said one commenter.

“They are truly amazing, they helped my wife give birth to our beautiful son who will be 2 years old in November,” said another.

The filming for the series took place at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex.
