The Duchess of Cornwall has honoured Prince Philip with a touching gesture as she dedicated the second season of her reading club to the Duke.
The Duchess leads her books series The Reading Room which, the dedicated Instagram page explains, allows readers to “discover new books each season and meet the extraordinary people who create them.”
With the launch of her second season, Camilla has chosen to dedicate this edition of The Reading room to Prince Philip and left a moving message to explain her choice:
“As Patron of BookTrust, which I inherited from my late father-in-law His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh,” she was quoted by Clarence House. “I would like to dedicate the next series of my Reading Room to him, in memory of a great fellow reader.”
BookTrust is a reading charity which helps children across the UK access books and resources to help support their reading.
Prince Philip was a patron of the charity, alongside his work with more than 900 organisations during his lifetime.
With the Duchess of Cornwall’s existing love of reading, it seems she makes a fitting choice to take over his legacy and continue the Duke’s work with the charity.
Camilla has launched this second edition of The Reading Room with four new books on a range of subjects.
The books she has chosen are The Book Dust by Philip Pullman, Girl by Edna O’Brien, The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain and A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
