Line of Duty spoilers follow – including season 6, episode 5 and its ending.
After Sunday night's (18 April) episode of Line of Duty, viewers will be wondering what happened to DI Kate Fleming after that terrifying cliffhanger.
It was copper against (clearly bent) copper when Kate faced Ryan Pilkington, both guns pointing at each other and a lot of shouting before two gunshots fired and the screen went black.
Well, Vicky McClure joined her old Line of Duty colleague, Craig Parkinson, who played DI Matthew 'Dot' Cottan, on the Obsessed With... podcast to chat about what went down, but she didn't give much away at all about the fate of her character.
"Well you know, every episode of Line of Duty history is terrifying, and Jed [Mercurio, series creator] is always there to serve the story, and it's exactly what happened with Dot," she explained.
"Dot's time came when it was time to serve the story and that's what Jed will always do, so I don't wanna put anything out there, but Jed serves the story."
So is she hinting that Kate is dead or alive?
A rather more helpful hint about what may be to come is a trailer that has been doing the rounds showing Kate wearing the same outfit as she is wearing at the end of this episode, standing next to Jo Davidson, both very much alive.
Obviously, it could be a red herring, because thanks to Line of Duty, we trust absolutely no one, so the only way to find out for sure is to wait another week to see if she survives her run-in with Ryan.
Line of Duty series 6 continues on Sunday, April 25 at 9pm on BBC One. Series 1-6 are already available to pre-order as a boxset and will be released on 17 May.
