The creator of Call The Midwife has revealed she is open to Miranda Hart's return.
The actress played Chummy for four seasons of the BBC One medical period drama before her exit in 2015.
Speaking ahead of the show's tenth anniversary celebration, Call The Midwife creator and writer Heidi Thomas revealed her "hope" that the character could return in a future series.
"I still hope that one day we will come back to Chummy," she told Daily Mail.
Chummy departed Call the Midwife in season 4 when she moved to a mother and baby unit.
Speaking previously about her departure, Miranda told The Mirror: "Maybe Chummy can come back in the next series an enlightened, crazed 60s hippy, having an affair with Paul McCartney."
Call the Midwife aired a Christmas special in December last year.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the traditional January run of episodes were delayed, though the show returns to BBC One next Sunday (April 18).
A previous season 10 update revealed that due to the delays, Call the Midwife was filmed "through the English winter" for the first time in the show's history, leading actors to suck ice cubes in order for their breath not to show in scenes set in summer months.
Keep an eye out for shaking shoulders!
Call the Midwife will return Sunday, 18 April on BBC One.
