Mum, presenter and DJ Fearne Cotton shared a no make-up selfie on Instagram after an “awkward, brain fogged” day. It's a feeling many of us will relate to following months of lockdown fatigue.

In the post, Fearne admitted she felt “the opposite of how [pop star] Dua Lipa looked at the Grammys” and “even forgot one of [her] friends' names on the school run.”

While she confessed she wasn’t feeling her best, Fearne told her 3.3 million followers that “we are not meant to be on top form or our best every day” and that, in fact, “our ‘best’ changes”.

Instead of feeling bad about having a less than perfect day, Fearne said she had learned to be okay with not being constantly on top of the world and can now almost find “foggy, weird days” funny instead.

The mum of two ended her post by encouraging followers to, “be kind to yourself, go easy on yourself, find the funny in the bits that go wrong if you can.”

Soap star Natalie Cassidy appeared to relate to Fearne’s honest post and admitted in the comments that she had “felt like a complete dipstick all day.”

Paloma Faith also supported the sentiment and added, “I commend you for being able to look at the Grammys ...I can’t look it’s like a reminder of what a mess I am! Ha!”

Of course, Fearne Cotton is no stranger to the benefits of creating a positive mindset. She has even written a number of books on the subject, including; Happy: Finding joy in every day and letting go of perfect and Quiet: Silencing the brain chatter and believing that you're good enough.

The writer's latest book Speak Your Truth came out in hardback this year and quickly hit the Sunday Times Top bestseller list.

In her Happy Place podcast, Fearne also interviews inspiring people and discusses what happiness means to them, making her well-placed to remind us all about the transient nature of so-called “good” and “bad” days.
