The Cambridge family paid tribute to Princess Diana on Sunday (14 March) by sharing the special Mother's Day cards that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had written to their late grandmother.
Alongside the post, which was shared on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's official Instagram, it was revealed that the young royals do this every year as a tribute to Diana on behalf of their dad, Prince William.
The caption reads: "This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again."
It goes on to say how difficult Mother's Day can be for many on us. "But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging," it reads.
"Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William.
"Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day 💐."
A scroll through the post shows the three Cambridge children's cards for Princess Diana. First up, seven-year-old Prince George's simple green card reads: "Dear Granny Diana, Happy Mother's Day. I love you very much and think of you always. Sending lots of love from George," followed by several kisses.
Next up, we see five-year-old Princess Charlotte's pink card – decorated with a rainbow heart and various stickers. In her sweet message, we also discover that the royal kids' nickname for dad Prince William is "Papa".
"Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother's Day," Charlotte's message reads. "I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love, Charlotte", again followed by plenty of kisses.
Finally, little Louis' card bright green card also boasts a colourful heart motif and animal stickers, and is signed simply "from Louis" by the two-year-old.
What a beautiful family tradition.
The Cambridges also went on to share the very impressive and beautifully decorated Mother's Day cake made by George, Charlotte and Louis for mum Kate, as well as a sweet throwback snap of the young duchess with mum, Carole Middleton.
