Shonda Rhimes is expecting big things from Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page.

In her introduction of the actor for his inclusion in the recently release Time100 Next List, the executive producer of the hit Netflix show said the 'prospects are limitless' for Page's career.

Page, who stars as a central character alongside actor Phoebe Dynevor in the producer's most recent smash hit Bridgerton, joins Dua Lipa, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Telfar Clemens on the iconic list of emerging, powerful voices to watch.

What to read next

The 51-year-old TV powerhouse made sure to reference the actor's starring role in the Regency era drama, writing in the publication: 'You might dream of him, the one we call the Duke of Hastings but in reality, Regé-Jean Page is finer than fiction and better than any dream.'

Anyone else want that line on a T-shirt?

Rhimes continued, noting of Page: 'He is that rare actor, one who brings an intensity, an intelligence and a precision to his work, providing endless depth to any scene. His disappearance into character builds a vibrant world for us to enter, making it impossible to imagine any other actor playing the role.

'Few actors craft their moments so beautifully — or steal our attention so quickly. As evidenced by his performance in Bridgerton, Regé is a singular talent whose prospects are limitless. Today, he may be our duke, but by tomorrow… not even I can dream big enough to imagine.'

Before starring in his now most notable role as the rakish Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, Page made screen appearances in Waterloo Road, Fresh Meat, For the People and the Amazon Prime film Sylvie's Love. Earlier this week, it was also announced that the actor is set to star in Paramount's upcoming Dungeons & Dragons film.

The Shondaland alum will soon tick off yet another major achievement from his bucket list in 2021 as he takes to the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend. Page will make his presenting debut on the famous US late night comedy show on Saturday evening (February 20), with rapper Bad Bunny as the musical guest.

Though details of Page’s SNL stint have been kept strictly under lock and key since news of it came to light, with the success of Bridgerton and numerous Bond film rumours floating around - which the actor has denied - we're sure the hype surrounding the star is ripe for prime sketch parody pickings.

SNL airs in the US every Saturday but episodes are shown on Sky Comedy the following evening, so Sky and NOW TV subscribers will be able to stream Page's episode from 9pm on Sunday February 21. We'll see you there!
