The Bay returned for the start of its second series last night (January 20) on ITV, as tragedy struck and DS Lisa Armstrong and DC 'Med' Kharim struggled to make a start on the case.
As the episode aired, viewers tweeted about the characters they are currently most suspicious of (we've covered all the potential killers so far right here), as well as noticing a former soap star or two popping up.
As well as one of EastEnders' former Peter Beales, Thomas Law, making an appearance, Carol Jackson actress Lindsey Coulson was in series one.
But someone people weren't expecting to see was former Coronation Street star Amy James-Kelly, who played Sophie Webster's girlfriend Maddie Heath on the show until she was killed off.
Now, she's playing Grace Marshbrook, a member of the grieving family.
She hasn't done much in the first episode, but viewers still noticed her presence:
The actress herself shared a touching Instagram post about her time on the show, thanking the producers for really taking her health condition into account when she was on set.
"I started filming this just weeks after my endometriosis surgery," she wrote, "and Claire the costume designer was brilliant with making sure I was comfortable and that my waistband didn't hurt (hoorah for overalls), that I had pockets and places to hide painkillers and heat packs and space for extra dressings...
"What fine company I was in on this job. Fine, fine company. Said company often unknowingly scooped me out of some harsh, harsh slumps at such a strange and painful time in my life."
At the end of the first episode, yet another former soap star turned up: Joe Absolom, who said a few years back he'd never reprise his role as Matthew Rose in EastEnders. In The Bay, he's playing a face from Lisa's past she'd rather not see again.
The Bay airs Wednesday nights on ITV at 9pm, while the whole series is available on ITV Hub now.
