Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh is set to shimmy her way onto the Strictly dance floor very shortly, and on her side is the fact that many of her colleagues, from Richard Arnold to Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins, have all taken part in the dance show before.
Ranvir revealed she’s taken some advice from her Good Morning Britain colleague Susanna Reid, who reached the Strictly final in 2013.
“The only thing Susanna keeps saying to me is: ‘Ranvir, you have no idea what is about to happen.’ With a real sense of foreboding,” Ranvir told Goodhousekeeping.com/uk and other press.
“She’s just like: ‘You've no idea. It's just a whirlwind.’”
While Susanna is clearly trying to prepare Ranvir for the intensity of Strictly, she and the GMB team are also putting in lots of positive words.
“Everyone keeps saying it’s like you’re in the centre of a whirlwind and It'll be like nothing else you’ve ever done.
“Everybody has loved it so everybody says: ‘It's going be the best thing you've ever done in your life, so just enjoy every second.’”
Ranvir will have to balance a gruelling schedule getting up early to work on breakfast TV with Strictly training, and again her GMB co-stars are on-hand to give encouragement.
“I did ask Susanna and everybody else because they all worked on breakfast television whilst doing Strictly,” Ranvir explained.
“They just said that actually your adrenaline will carry you through so much. You will be completely shattered by the end of it, but your adrenaline and your excitement of doing it [will get you through].”
The political broadcaster is particularly looking forward to showing the public more of her personality.
“It’s quite an unusual thing really, to be asked about my life… because I'm so used to being the one asking the questions and the spotlight is definitely not on me, it's always on the issue or on the person we're talking to," she explained.
“I'm 43 now so I just feel like I'm more relaxed about being me, and people seeing me more.
"I am looking forward to people seeing that I like to laugh a lot. You don't really get to laugh a lot when you're doing politics every day so I'm looking forward to just having a fun old time.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One from this Saturday, 17 October.
