Craig Revel Horwood has suggested that a socially distanced Strictly Come Dancing could be "even more spectacular".
A long-time member of the judging panel, Craig made an appearance on The Steph Show yesterday (May 4), where he weighed in on the likelihood of a new series following the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"I've spoken to the producers and they're working through absolutely everything to make it happen," he told host Steph McGovern. "Fingers crossed, it will."
"There is some way around it, there has to be. People love the show, it's great entertainment," continued Craig. "We really want it back and I know BBC One are working extremely hard to make that happen for the audience."
Recalling his experience working on Australia's Dancing with the Stars, which had to make changes to its most recent run due to the pandemic, the 55-year-old revealed: "We managed to do it without a studio audience.
"And when people needed to be isolated, one couple, for instance, stayed in a hotel for two weeks and they performed live from the hotel rooftop!"
According to Craig, "remote cameras" were set up and it turned out to be "absolutely amazing".
"There was a summer breeze wafting through their costumes and it was amazing. So there is a way around it, and it could be even more spectacular!"
The Steph Show airs weekdays at 12pm on Channel 4.
Strictly Come Dancing is scheduled to return for an all-new series later this year on BBC One.
