Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a lot of back and forth as to whether or not Princess Beatrice would be able to marry her Italian fiancé, Edo Mapelli Mozzi.
After reports said Beatrice's wedding, which was set to take place this May, came "under review", there was speculation that the pair might scale the wedding right down and have a very small ceremony. However, it's now thought that the wedding has been postponed entirely until 2021.
One thing we do know, however, is that when Beatrice and Edo eventually do tie the knot she'll be getting a shiny new title to accompany her current Princess one. Whilst it's already been made clear that she won't become a Duchess (thanks to an old and outdated tradition that states only male descendants of the monarch are given a royal Dukedom...), Beatrice will become a countess.
However, this new addition is nothing to do with her own royal heritage, and is instead due to the fact that her husband-to-be is actually an Italian count, as well as being a multi-millionaire property tycoon.
Edo’s father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, spoke with the Daily Mail about their family’s lineage, saying, “Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count—his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
He also adds that Beatrice and Edo are “very suited to each other” and “I’ve never seen him so happy."
