As more and more birthdays pass in isolation, people are getting creative to make the occasion special for their loved ones.
And that includes TV stars, with This Morning host Holly Willoughby sharing an adorable snap at the weekend of herself and daughter Belle making a special ice cream cake for the little one's ninth birthday on Tuesday (14 April).
The mother-daughter duo promised to update fans on how the dessert turned out, captioning the picture: "Today’s project... making an ice cream cake for Belle’s birthday on Tuesday... Never done it before, will report back once we reveal it!"
The nifty no-bake cake saw the pair layering slices of store-bought Swiss Roll, alternated with ice cream, before swapping the oven for a good while in the freezer. An easy 'bake' that doesn't require eggs or flour, and is sure to be a crowd-please with kids? Thanks for the tip, Holly!
Sure enough, come the day of Belle's birthday, Holly proudly shared their creation in a second Instagram post, telling fans: "Reporting back... Ice cream cake was a success!"
Holly showed off the finished dessert topped off with cheerful pick 'n mix sweets and served on classic Emma Bridgewater plates and bowls.
The caption went on to include a beautiful message from Holly to her daughter, reading: "Belle is super happy with her birthday creation... And we are super happy to have such a ray of sunshine in our life... Happy birthday beautiful Belle... Keep being you... Just as you are... We LOVE you!"
