It was a very different kind of Mother's Day for many of us, given families are currently separated due to social distancing and self-isolation advice.

However, there was still joy to be found in the special day, as children around the country showed their appreciation for the maternal figures in their lives.

One such child who did just that was Prince George, the six-year-old first born of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Kensington Palace shared a photograph of the young royal's creative Mother's Day card for his mum, Kate.

The Palace began the social media post with an uplifting message.

"To mothers new and old and families spending today together and apart – we are thinking of you all at this difficult time," it read.

It went on to describe the various snaps in the post, including the card George made for his mum this Mother's Day.

The colourful card depicts a vase of flowers, with their petals made of tissue paper.

Very creative, indeed!

The post also featured a sweet family picture of the Cambridges as well as throwback photos of William and Harry with their mum, the late Princess Diana, as well as Carole Middleton holding Kate when she was just a baby herself.

Royal fans were thrilled by the lovely compilation of photos, with one calling George "a little artist."

Another added: "This warms my heart so much."

It certainly was a Mother's Day boost we needed during these challenging times.
