The BBC has suspended filming of EastEnders and other long-running dramas due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The broadcaster announced today (18 March), filming of EastEnders has been suspended until further notice.

In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice.

"We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England."

In an attempt to make the recorded episodes last as long as possible, the BBC have decided the show will only air on Mondays and Tuesdays, as opposed to every weekday apart from Wednesdays.

As well as EastEnders, the broadcaster has also suspended filming of Casualty, Doctors and Holby City.
