The One Show's Alex Jones needed stitches after injuring her hand while competing in Channel 4's The Great Celebrity Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.

Speaking about her experiences in the Bake Off tent, the TV star revealed she had a bit of a cooking disaster while filming the show, which is set to air later this month.

Alex had to visit paramedics after she accidentally smashed a cooking bowl and ended up with a nasty cut on her hand that required stitches.

"They had these fancy electric mixers where you attach the glass bowl, put the whisk in and press go," Alex told Good Housekeeping in our April issue, out now.

"It turns out my bowl wasn’t attached and the moment the blade hit it, the bowl shattered into 1,000 pieces."

And, while Alex didn't initially realise she'd injured herself, she actually ended up with a big piece of glass stuck in her hand.

"I’m saying, 'I’m absolutely fine' before realising there’s a massive shard of glass sticking out of my hand," she said. "I had to go straight off to the paramedic for stitches."

But Alex wouldn't let the incident stand in the way of her baking...

"He [the parademic] said, 'I’m just going to put in the anaesthetic' and I was like, 'No, there’s no time for that, I have a showstopper to make, just do it!'" she added.

Now that's dedication... We can't wait to see that showstopper!

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer airs onChannel 4 on 10 March.
