London's theatre scene is world-famous. It's home to some of the longest ever running shows as well as being a hotbed for creative new plays and up-and-coming talent.
This year, there's plenty of excellent theatre across the city, but as ever many of it takes place in the heart of so-called 'theatreland': the West End.
With 38 different theatres in the West End alone, the choice of which show to go and see is always a tricky one. But aside from the the theatre heavyweights - Hamilton, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera - there are plenty of new shows for 2020.

Pretty Woman
The cult classic rom com that is Pretty Woman has had a musical makeover. Opening just in time for Valentine's Day (of course), the stage version might not star Julia Roberts but it is set to be just as brilliant.

This exciting new musical has created much of a buzz since it opened. It tells the story of a Juliet who decided not to end things the way Shakespeare intended, and lived a life after Romeo.

Hello, Dolly!
The inimitable Imelda Staunton is taking on the role of the eponymous Dolly in this brilliant musical about a socialite turned matchmaker. It all changes for Dolly when she realises the next match she needs to make is for herself.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Harper Lee’s classic novel about racial inequality in 1930s Alabama has been given the stage treatment. After an acclaimed run on Broadway, the play is being transferred to London and is guaranteed to be a sell-out success.

The Prince of Egypt
A brand new musical based on a DreamWorks movie classic? Yes please. With music and lyrics from Stephen Schwartz (the composer of Wicked), this is going to be something special.

For anyone who hasn't seen this musical before, it's about time. The 1960s-set story of Tracy Turnblad is possibly one of the most feel-good shows of all time. Plus, this production stars Michael Ball.

Life of Pi
This Booker prize winning novel about the hope and endurance it took for one man and some animals to stay alive on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean has been adapted into play. If it's as anything as extraordinary as the book, we're in for a treat.

Sister Act: The Musical
The one and only Whoopi Goldberg is reprising her role as Deloris Van Cartier in the West End musical adaptation of the 1992 film. Meanwhile, Jennifer Saunders will play Mother Superior. Not one to miss.
