John Barrowman responds to criticism of his all-new look

Former Torchwood and Doctor Who star John Barrowman would really appreciate it if everyone would calm down over his new look.

Barrowman caused a sensation with his fans when he traveled to Australia last week to appear on I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp and unveiled his newly-buzzed grey hair.

His spiffy new hairstyle came up again during an appearance on The One Show on Tuesday (November 26), where Barrowman admitted that not everyone had been so supportive.

"It's interesting because I put out some stuff on social media," he explained. "I wore a hat for a little while. I went back into the I'm a Celebrity jungle about a week ago, and I revealed it. The press thought, 'There's something wrong with him. He's ill'.

"I'm like, really? I just cut my hair. I just wanted a change. I've been dyeing my hair since I've been in my twenties. I wanted to go with the silver fox."

Barrowman also had an answer for those on social media who are already encouraging him to go back to his former brunette locks.

"There have been a couple of people who have said, 'Oh, go back to the dark hair'. Listen, if I can, I will," he said. "You can colour your hair anytime. Let's just let this grow out a bit. I'm going to let it grow and see how it looks."

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
