His Dark Materials fans spotted a major Harry Potter connection in the fourth episode, and it was all rather exciting.
The BBC and HBO drama, based on Philip Pullman's Book of Dust trilogy, resumed on Sunday night (November 24) with the introduction of Lin-Manuel Miranda as aeronaut Lee Scoresby and Joe Tandberg as the voice of Lord Iorek.
Nevertheless, it was the introduction of Trollesund citizen Sysselmann which really captured viewer attention.
You see, Sysselmann is played by Harry Melling, who Harry Potter fans immediately recognised as Dudley Dursley – even if he looks a bit different now.
As fans began to recognise Melling for his magical past, they took to Twitter to express their amazement.
"Mr Sysselmann is bloody Dudley Dursley!" wrote one viewer, while another said, "Dudley Dursley showing up in His Dark Materials is wild."
A third added: "Dudley from Harry Potter has changed a bit hasn't he?!"

Miraculously, the actor also appeared a mere hour later in the second episode of BBC's The War of the Worlds. Now that's what we call magic.
His Dark Materials airs on Sunday nights at 8pm BBC One in the UK, and on Mondays at 9/8c on HBO.
