A Friends reunion is finally in the works… but don't get your hopes up for a full new season.
But in some still-exciting news, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer are all in talks for an unscripted special to celebrate the sitcom's 25th anniversary.
This one-off special would premiere on the new streaming service HBO Max when Friends itself debuts on the platform following its departure from Netflix US at the end of the year. (Don't worry, the show isn't leaving Netflix UK yet.)
THR reports that talks are in a very early stage and could collapse, but the idea would be for the cast to reunite with show creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman to look back on Friends' classic moments.
The creators and the cast members have repeatedly ruled out the cast ever reprising their characters for any sort of scripted revival like fellow NBC comedy Will & Grace.
Celebrations for Friends' 25th anniversary have been delighting fans for the last several months, including the full cast regrouping for an epic Instagram post. More recently, on-screen couple Cox and Perry also posed for a selfie.
Aniston also looked back on the series fondly this week, recalling: "I mean Friends was the gift of a lifetime, and I would not be standing up here without that amazing show, without those amazing five other actors, and with an audience who stuck with us for a decade and through streaming services now."
Friends airs daily on Comedy Central in the UK and is also streaming on Netflix.
