Autumnwatch presenters compared to Teletubbies on last night's show

This week saw Autumnwatch return to our screens for 2019, with Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Gillian Burke and Iolo Williams setting up home in the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands.

The famous wildlife foursome were wrapped-up warm to present live from the their pop-up studio and start this year's series with a bang. They showed us the first live images from the badger cam, explained the science behind why we experience seasons on Earth, visited the largest grey seal colony on the Farne Islands during pupping season and even took us up into space with astronaut Tim Peake.

But, while this incredibly interesting and educational subject matter was playing out on our TVs, viewers couldn't help but notice something much less scientific... In fact, it has nothing to do with wildlife at all.

With Chris in a green jacket, Michaela in a red one, Gillian in a yellow coat and Iolo in blue, sat in a row in their studio, viewers spotted a resemblance between the Autumnwatch presenters and nostalgic children's TV show, Teletubbies. That's two TV programmes we never expected to have anything in common!

Their colour pallet aside, there is plenty to see on Autumnwatch over the coming days. "We're hoping to follow up with our pine martins again, we've been following quite a few over the past 10 months," presenter Iolo Williams tells Country Living. "We'll have cameras up in the woods seeing what we get there – we've had hare and deer in the woods. We'll have a camera on the river with tawny owls more than anything else and a few wood mice knocking around. We're hoping we might catch otters coming up and down the river as well and Chris is going to be looking at the science of the deer rut."

Autumnwatch is on BBC Two at 8pm every day this week.
