As well as reuniting for this year's edition of I'm a Celebrity, the nation's favourite presenting duo are taking part in a two-episode special for ITV called Ant & Dec's DNA Journey.

In what is described as an emotional journey of discovery, the pair will follow their maternal and paternal blood lines using their DNA to go through their ancestral history.

This show is the ideal watch for anyone who loves all-things Ant & Dec, as viewers will get to join them on their journey to Ireland and the US, discovering relatives they never even knew existed.

Some of the colourful characters we'll be introduced to include a former US female wrestling promoter. We'll also find out that one of their grandfathers is a celebrated war hero, while another is quite literally a descendant from royalty.

You'll have to tune in to find out who – and if their reaction is half as funny as Danny Dyer finding out he's a royal descent in Who Do You Think You Are? it'll all be worth it.

The show will also treat us to a deeper insight into Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly's long-running friendship.

Speaking about the show, Ant said: "I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to historical events, so to get the chance to research our family history using our DNA was too good an opportunity to pass up.

"What we find out is mind-blowing and nothing either of us could ever have imagined. It's something that will stay with us both forever."

Dec added: "A huge part of this was to find out my heritage, especially on my dad's side. I always thought I knew a fair bit about where I came from but it turns out I was wrong!

"Whilst it was incredible to find out about the past, what was hugely overwhelming was to meet relatives neither of us knew we had. It was a truly amazing experience."

Ant & Dec's DNA Journey is coming soon to ITV.
