Dancing on Ice has announced former footballer Kevin Kilbane as the third celebrity joining the 2020 line-up.

Kilbane, who played for clubs such as Sunderland and Everton and represented the Republic of Ireland during his footballing career, works nowadays as a pundit including for BBC's Match of the Day.

"I am going on as a total novice," he said. "I'm starting from scratch here.

"This is going to be a massive challenge for me. I've been taking it easy for the last few years since I finished [football], so let's just see how this one goes."

The reveal was made on Talksport Radio.

Kilbane's announcement follows the news yesterday (September 24) that Love Island's Maura Higgins and presenter Michael Barrymore would be taking part this coming series.

"It's very scary," Maura said. "I think I am more excited than scared. I am brave and competitive, so I think that will drive me. I don't want to let anyone down now."

Nine further celebrities will be announced in the coming days.

The 2020 series will also see John Barrowman taking up a judging role, with Jason Gardiner stepping down. Barrowman joins Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, and Ashley Banjo on the panel.
