Prince William has let slip Princess Charlotte’s new obsession, and it’s totally adorable.

During a visit to Harcombe House, Devon, to mark Emergency Services Day on Monday (9 September), the Duke of Cambridge opened up about his daughter’s love of a multicoloured mythical creature.

"My daughter loves unicorns," the royal revealed during an art therapy session at the centre. "Loves them. Very cool."

The princess’ love for unicorns is so strong that her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, was seen carrying the four-year-old’s school bag on her first day of primary school last Thursday, which was adorned with a pink sequinned unicorn keychain on the zip.

Earlier this summer, Charlotte was also spotted holding a unicorn purse during her family’s visit to the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day, suggesting her love of the legendary animal has been going strong for a while.

Last week, the Princess attended her first day at Thomas’s Battersea school with her big brother, Prince George.

After walking into the school’s entrance with her brother and parents, the Palace released an official portrait of the young royals which was taken at the family home in Kensington Palace shortly before the children’s big day.

In a video of the foursome approaching the school entrance with Charlotte’s new teacher, Helen Haslem, the Duchess was overheard telling the four-year-old: "George will help lead the way."
