Meghan and Harry have officially parted ways from the charity they shared with William and Kate

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially been removed from the title of the Royal Foundation; the charity organisation they previously shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

It was announced back in June that Meghan and Harry would be leaving the Royal Foundation, with a statement on the organisation's website reading: "Later this year The Royal Foundation will become the principal charitable and philanthropic vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will establish their own new charitable foundation with transitional operating support from The Royal Foundation.

"In addition both couples will continue to work together on projects in the future, including on The Foundation’s mental health programme, Heads Together."

That split has now come into force, as name-change documents from Companies House revealed this week that the organisation is now called 'The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge', as opposed to also including The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The changes are being made to the Foundation to "best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households."

Meghan and Harry's departure from The Royal Foundation is the final demonstration of the separation of the Cambridge and Sussex households, which was announced in March this year. It has seen the brothers separate their offices, with William and Kate remaining at Kensington Palace while Harry and Meghan have relocated to Buckingham Palace. The Sussexes have also moved their official residence from Kensington to Windsor as part of the split.

The Royal Foundation in its original form was an overarching organisation which looked after the foursome's charity work. The Foundation consisted of the royals' Heads Together mental health initiative, The Invictus Games, Meghan's Together cookbook and more.

Now that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have parted ways with the Foundation, they have set up their own charitable organisation called 'The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex'. This will reportedly have a particular focus on philanthropic issues outside of the UK, predominantly in Commonwealth countries and the Americas.

William and Kate, meanwhile, will be developing new charitable initiatives linked to the environment as well as support for children and families for the existing Royal Foundation.
