Baby names that were popular in the 1980s, such as David and Hannah, are making a comeback, according to a new study.
The pregnancy and parenting website BabyCentre has revealed the most popular boys and girls names so far in 2019 – and they've also discovered where some parents are drawing their inspiration from.
Olivia, Sophia and Lily are the top three girls names, while Muhammed, Noah and George are the most popular boys monikers.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Archie joins royal favourites George and Charlotte in the list for the first time following the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's little boy in May.
But outside of the top 20, parents are throwing it back to 30 years ago with names such as Michael, Maxine and Penny featuring in the top 100 for the first time in a while.
Lorna Marsh, senior editor at BabyCentre, believes this could be due to the current political climate.
"We are seeing a real rise in strong and stable names, especially those with a 1980s twist," she explained.
"Whatever anyone’s thoughts on that decade’s politics, they were at least more settled. Perhaps this is why parents of baby Michaels and Maxines are compensating for the current turmoil with solid 80s choices."
