Audible best-sellers for April and May - Big audiobook trends you need to know about

With summer holiday season upon us, it’s time to pull together a list of books, audiobooks and podcasts to keep us entertained while we’re lounging by the pool or taking a road trip.

When it comes to getting inspiration for the latter, Audible has revealed the genres its users are most interested in currently. Audible told Goodhousekeeping.com/uk it’s seeing a “significant surge” in downloads for self-help titles as well as a “continued interest” in escapist sci-fi.

“The first few months of 2019 have seen a significant surge in downloads for human interest, mental health and self-help titles on Audible. Kelly Holmes’ What Do I Do?, Michelle Obama’s Becoming and Mark Manson’s Everything Is F**ked: A Book About Hope all fall squarely within that trend, with listeners looking for ways to invest in themselves,” Laurence Howell, Content Director for Audible UK said.

“Perhaps unsurprisingly our current social climate has seen continued interest in escapist sci-fi titles, people looking to get lost in a story – our new H.G. Wells collection for example has been remained one of our top five best-sellers for the last seven or eight weeks,” Laurence added.
