Call The Midwife season finale preview pictures hint at Elsie’s fate

The penultimate episode of Call The Midwife season 8 shocked viewers with the revelation that Nurse Valerie’s grandmother Elsie is carrying out back street abortions and now, first-look pictures for the series finale hint at her fate.

The previous episode ended with Valerie and Trixie discussing the fact Elsie would have to be reported to the police for carrying out illegal, unregulated abortions and judging by a new image revealed ahead of Sunday’s episode, she is in fact arrested.

There are no other images showing Elsie so we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for her.

Elsewhere in the episode it seems everyone’s joining together for a party.

Shelagh is on stage in a gorgeous frock and Reggie can be seen having a dance, after Violet noted in the last episode that she was worried he hasn’t been himself recently.

Valerie is also in the preview images and is putting a brave face on in the midst of everything happening with her grandma.

On the maternity ward, Lucille is busy dealing with a new mum who doesn’t look happy.

We’ll see how season 8 pans out when Call The Midwife returns Sunday at 8pm on BBC One.
