Good Housekeeping UK

Chelsea Flower Show is a haven of gardening expertise of every kind, with world-leading gardeners, designers, horticulturalists and expert traders coming together every year for the showcase.

Once again for 2023, the Good Housekeeping team was on the ground at the show getting in on all the action and bringing you everything you need to know as it happens. This year, we've been speaking to those in the know about all the top planting trends for the season ahead, meeting gold medal winning garden designers and finding out what experts think will be some of the most popular gardening products to buy for the year ahead.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to many green-fingered customers, so biodegradable products, those made from recyclable materials or those which benefit nature in some way were frequently touted as ones to watch by some of the official Chelsea Flower Show vendors we spoke to.

Quality, especially when it comes to gardening tools, was also something which came up frequently. Gardeners want long-lasting, effective tools which are made from materials they can rely on.

In this piece, we reveal some of the must-have gardening products of the year, as displayed at Chelsea Flower Show 2023. Whether you're looking for award-nominated eco-friendly plant pots, easy to grip secateurs or an investment for your community allotment project, there's something for you.

Here are the top gardening predictions to know about when it comes to choosing what to buy for the season ahead...

Founder Ally Mitchells showed us his stylish plant pots, which are former Chelsea Product of the Year winners. They're made from recycled rope and fishing nets cleared from Scottish shores. The colour of the pots comes from the waste plastics they're made from, and we love the wave effect of this navy pot created from discarded blue rope.

Husk SWAN WATERING CAN

SWAN WATERING CAN

Husk's swan-shaped watering cans are flying off the shelves at the moment, and have been nominated for a Chelsea Flower Show Product of the Year Award in the past, thanks to their eco-credentials. The clever, non-drip design is constructed from agricultural by-products. For example, the speckled brown terrazzo style pattern comes from the incorporation of left over coffee husks.
