We’ve all rushed out the door in the morning, only to discover our outfit is covered in fluff. Traditional lint rollers do work, but tend to lose effectiveness after one or two uses, making them rather unsustainable. Enter the washable reusable lint roller, which has been winning fans on social media with its ability to keep fabrics looking their best, without losing stickiness, for just £6.
Hundreds of TikTokers have been showing off impressive results with this nifty tool, swiping up everything from pet hair, crumbs and dust from clothing, linen and upholstery, with only a quick rinse needed in between.
I’m forever buying roller refills, so wanted to see whether this reusable version could help me save money on replacements – and prevent sending unnecessary waste to landfill.
Reusable lint roller: My honest review
The reusable lint roller is smaller than traditional versions, comprising an impressively sticky washable ball inside a removable plastic case. It’s roughly the size of a tennis ball, so will fit happily in your handbag, ready for quick touch-ups.
I used the roller on several key fluff-attracting items I own; a woollen coat, some polyester cushions, a blanket, linen bedding set, my curtains and the arms of my sofa. It fit snugly in my hand and the cover did a good job at protecting fingers from the sticky surface. I needed to use some pressure to effectively pick up lint but, after just a few swipes, all visible dust and hair was gone, leaving fabrics looking fresh and clean.
Despite its size, the roller picks up a surprising amount of dirt and dust – I easily de-fluffed both arms and the back of my full-length long sleeved jacket in one go. It’ll comfortably tackle an outfit on-the-go without needing a wash, which is good news for wedding season.
One note? As it’s small, it’s better for tackling clothing than larger items; de-fuzzing a long pair of curtains necessitated a couple of trips to the sink. Even so, they were ready to go in just over five minutes, which I thought was pretty good going.
Cleaning requires nothing more than a quick rinse under the tap and, despite multiple washes, the ball never lost its stickiness.
Reusable lint roller: Our verdict
I can see why #CleanTok rates this little tool. It effectively trapped dirt on everything tested and rolled across all fabrics easily with a little pressure. I've only had it for a few weeks, so time will tell if it loses its stickiness over time, but so far I’m happy with its performance.
There’s more we can all do to live a truly sustainable lifestyle, but this is one easy swap that will keep single-use roller heads out of your waste bin – and save you some money at the same time.
