IKEA and Sonos have unveiled the latest invention from their collaborative SYMFONISK range — a floor standing lamp that doubles as a wireless speaker.

Following the launch of the SYMFONISK lamp speaker and bookshelf speaker in 2019, this new product combines high-quality sound with stylish design to seamlessly blend into the home.

Designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, the floor lamp speaker offers elevated sound quality and comes with a bamboo light shade (you'll have to buy this separately) to elevate the system even further and create real impact.

Combining a functional furniture piece with integrated sound makes it ideal for those of us who often struggle to find counter space for yet another object, as well as those who wish that their smart tech would blend in with their existing interior design. The new product also allows you to create light, as well as atmosphere, in any room in your home.

"We have learnt a great deal about how people want to furnish with light and sound. We also know that many people want to have several light sources on different levels and parts of the room to create the right mood," says Stjepan Begic, Range Design Leader at IKEA of Sweden. "The challenge of not having enough room for a table to put the lamp on led us to create the floor lamp."

"The SYMFONISK floor lamp speaker is a great example of how our collaboration continues to challenge the traditional idea of sound in the home," adds Sara Lincoln, Principal Product Manager at Sonos.

And if you already own a Sonos or SYMFONISK speaker, they are all connected within the same system. This means, all you have to do is add the floor lamp speaker to the IKEA Home smart app to connect with your other smart devices and start creating moods for any room in your home.

If you'll be picking up one for yourself, the new SYMFONISK floor lamp speaker will be available in-store and online in January 2023.
