The Countess of Wessex showed off her crafting skills last week, as she took part in a virtual workshop with families from across the UK, as part of her work to support the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Sophie joined one of the organisation's Shape and Share sessions, which aim to support children with visual impairment during the pandemic, encouraging them to try new things, make friends and have fun.

During the virtual event, the royal showed off her creative side by decorating a wooden bird box alongside her fellow attendees.

Sophie chatted happily to the families taking part as she got to work, revealing that her own favourite bird is the black bird and complimenting a young girl on her tiara. "Is she wearing a tiara? Look at you, you really are a princess!" Sophie told her with a smile.

And it turns out the countess has definitely got a talent for arts and crafts, as she later showed off her hand-painted bird box to the rest of the group. Sophie opted for a pretty floral design on her bird box, in shades of green.

As well as sharing a short video of the session, the official @RoyalFamily Instagram account later posted a lovely photograph of the countess as she hung her newly decorated bird box up on a tree.

Alongside the stunning photo, the countess shared a personal message of thanks in the caption. "Thank you to the @RNIB for having me at your Shape and Share craft session this week!" she wrote.

"It was fantastic to meet the families and children, and see the positive impact of the sensory and interactive sessions.

"I hope the birds enjoy their new home!"

The countess was wrapped up in a classic navy roll-neck knit for the photograph, paired with simple jeans, while her blonde hair was worn up in her signature low ponytail.
