Step aside pistachio, we’re all about the cherry trend in the GH Kitchen
From a classic cherry tart to cherry cheesecake blondies, these are our favourite cherry recipes

So the beauty and style teams at GH HQ have been chatting cherry a LOT recently, from cherry infused cleansing balms to berry coloured rain macs. Cherry-coded was one of Pinterest Predicts top five colour trends for 2025 and the GH Food team is willing to gamble that an appreciation of all things cherry will be hitting menus up and down the country in no time at all, particularly when the summer months hit.
Official cherry season runs from June to July, but outside of these months frozen or even tinned cherries make a very happy substitute especially in puddings and pies. And don’t even start us on those Fabbri Amarena cherries in syrup in their seductive opaline jar - they are so good they deserve a column all of their own.
It's a pretty versatile little fruit, sweet but with a little tartness, so it shows up well in both sweet and savoury dishes. Some of our favourites include our duck and cherry pie, cherry burst cocktail, classic cherry clafoutis and our cherry, cardamom and rose semi-freddo.
Not sure how to pit a cherry correctly? We've got a really useful guide and video to show you the best way to do it.
An experienced and highly skilled team of food writers, stylists and digital content producers, the Good Housekeeping Cookery Team is a close-knit squad of food obsessives. Cookery Editor Emma Franklin is our resident chilli obsessive and barbecue expert, who spends an inordinate amount of time on holidays poking round the local supermarkets seeking out new and exciting foods. Senior Cookery Writer Alice Shields is a former pastry chef and baking fanatic who loves making bread and would have peanut butter with everything if she could. Her favourite carb is pasta, and our vibrant green spaghetti is her weeknight go-to. Lover of all things savoury, Senior Cookery Writer Grace Evans can be found eating crispy corn and nocellara olives at every opportunity, and will take the cheeseboard over dessert any time (though she cannot resist a slice of tres leches cake). With a wealth of professional kitchen know-how, culinary training and years of experience between them, they are all dedicated to ensuring every Good Housekeeping recipe is the best it can be, so you can trust they’ll work (and if they don’t – we’ll have the answer for why*) every time (*90% of the time the answer is: “buy an separate oven thermometer”!).
