This tasty root vegetable is in season here in the UK between early May to June and when buying you should look for bright-skinned, firm radishes. Once at home, you can soak them in iced water for a few hours to increase their crunchy texture and help keep them fresh for a few extra days.
Radishes are delicious eaten raw - shaved in a salad, pickled - as a side to spicy dishes, or gently cooked with other veg (which reduces their pepperiness slightly).
