This easy-to-make, long-lasting hot chocolate gift is jazzed up with a set of pretty, decorated spoons. Feel free to add chocolate chips instead of marshmallows to your hot chocolate mix
We love giving a homemade, edible gift for Christmas and this hot chocolate mix with chocolate spoons is such a cute gift to put together for your friends or family.
The hot chocolate mix is long-lasting so you can get ahead and prep in some lovely jars and gift to the recipient when you next see them.
All you do is combine cocoa powder, powdered milk, grated dark chocolate, sugar, cornflour and mini marshmallows and the recipient adds two tablespoons with 350ml for a single serving. Warm it up on the hob slowly to melt and create a velvety, decadent drink.
The hot chocolate stirrers are also a really cute idea and a great activity if you want children to get involved. Decorate with sprinkles and any other non-pareilles you like.

Ingredients
75g
cocoa powder
25g
powdered milk
100g
finely grated dark chocolate
150g
icing sugar
1Tbsp.
cornflour
50g
mini marshmallows
For the chocolate spoons
100g
each dark, milk and white chocolate, chopped and kept seperate
In a large bowl, mix together the cocoa, powdered milk, chocolate, icing sugar and cornflour. Put into a large, sterilised 1 litre Kilner jar, or divide among smaller jars, and top with marshmallows.
Step 2
For the chocolate spoons, melt your chosen chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water. Dip wooden spoons into the chocolate up to the handle, then lay on a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper. While chocolate is still melted, sprinkle over your chosen toppings and leave to set. When spoons are hard, remove them from paper and wrap in a cellophane bag to seal.
Step 3
To make up a single serving of hot chocolate, add 2tbsp hot chocolate mix and 350ml milk per person to a saucepan. Gently heat over a medium heat until combined and piping hot. Serve immediately with extra mini marshmallows, chocolate spoons to dip and whipped cream, if you like.
Get Ahead
If making the spoons ahead of time, the chocolate on them may bloom slightly, but it is still safe to eat.
