The nation has collectively fallen for pink gin. While we're now spoilt for choice when it comes to brand and flavour, we're also blessed with a whole host of treats inspired by the drink.

From pink gin cream at Christmas to pink gin ice lollies last summer, appetite for food inspired by the rosy tipple is not slowing down.

Just in time for Mother's Day and Easter, Asda has launched a new Pink Gin Celebration Cake with four layers of pink gin soaked madeira sponge and sweet jam.

Covered in frosting – pink, naturally – and topped with tiny edible pink gin bottles, it's perfect for a gathering of like minded pink gin fans.

Sarah Burns, Asda product developer, commented in a press release: “We know our customers love a novelty cake and this one, for adults only, oozes sophistication.”

She went on to suggest how best to enjoy a slice of this new boozy tipple.“In the evening with a favourite gin and tonic or, for something new, why not enjoy afternoon tea with a twist?!”

Sounds like a plan to us.

Asda’s new Pink Gin Cake is available in store and online now for £12.
